The Kunwar Bai Nu Mameru Yojana is a welfare scheme initiated by the Government of Gujarat to support the marriage of daughters belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) families. The scheme provides direct financial assistance to eligible families at the time of their daughters’ weddings. With rising marriage expenses often becoming a financial burden on economically weaker families, this scheme aims to provide timely economic support.
Originally, the scheme offered ₹10,000 as financial assistance, but effective from 1st April 2021, the assistance amount has been increased to ₹12,000. The funds are transferred directly into the bride’s bank account to ensure transparency and eliminate middlemen. The scheme not only provides financial aid but also promotes social equity by supporting marriages in SC communities.
